WILD RAVENS edition by AlTonya Washington Literature Fiction eBooks

Does everyone have "onyx eyes?". And do we have to be told about them every other page? And, what is with the "heaving bosom?" as I tried to read this, I could not help but feel that the author started the book with a thesaurus, then loved the adjectives so much that they took over the story. Yes, I got right away that everyone was beautiful, mysterious, and powerful, you do not have to be reminded everytime a character comes into the scene.

Don't waste your time with this book. It is boring, predictable, and full of tired cliches.

WILD RAVENS edition by AlTonya Washington Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I did not like this book at all and for a number of reasons. I bought this book after reading her other historical romance Passion's Furies which was very good. I enjoyed the storyline and characters way more than this one. There were so many things that made this book really hard to enjoy, like

-The repetitive scenes and dialog. How many times does one have to read how dark or intense the characters eyes were? 'Onyx' and 'dark' seemed to be everyone's signature look.

-How many times did Phaedra curse Zephir with the same dialogue? "Curse you!" "Rogue!" "Damn you!" were phrases I knew were coming easily. One minute she hated him and the next they're in love. I couldn't detect when that happened but the arguing got really old quickly.

-Why was Phaedra so naive!? She was young, yes, but how simple can you be to walk up to a group of men in her nightgown and threatened them in the middle of the night? Really.

-Zephir man-handling Phaedra. Like any other romance reader I enjoy a good Alpha male but they way he spoke and 'handled' Phaedra was not sexy or appealing at all. Yanking her hair, ignoring Phaedra's 'no' and still going with his 'seduction' was just not a good look for Zephir to me. Oh and him spewing the word 'bitch' and 'wench' to her every time he was upset with her was just terrible as well.

This book had a lot of promise because the storyline was good but the dialogue and not really connecting to any of the characters kept me from enjoying it.
This was a very good read, the ending was a little drawn out but never the less I would recommend this for readers looking for a book that will last more than one day. The title is a bit out of left field, you don't hear any reference to the Ravens until the end.
I have read this book three times, would love to see part two of Zephir and Phaedra adding a daughter to the family. The children's story maybe...
I love African American historical fiction and I really enjoyed this one. Would highly recommend it to historical fiction lovers.
Do not let this cover detere you from buying this book it is gooood WILD RAVENS takes you back in history but it is a good read you just can't go wrong
